DHT: The Hair Killer
DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) is a normal male hormone or Androgen that is produced from Testosterone by a very interesting enzyme called 5-alpha reductase.
The reason this enzyme is so interesting is that certain families in the Dominican Republic, who are deficient in 5-alpha reductase, donít have prostate enlargement and donít bald! This tells us that the male hormone responsible for hair loss is DHT.

It follows that if we could block 5-alpha reductase from producing DHT, we would also block the balding effects of this hair killing Androgen.
